Willkommen Kameraden!

To further support our efforts to recreate and preserve the heritage of the German cavalry soldier and the 2 Chevauleger Regiment in particular during the First World War and the years immediately before, Through living history and reenactment, we strive to bring to life a piece of a bygone era that was characterized as one of transition. In particular, the First World War saw the last use of horse cavalry while at the same time it saw the development of the airplane and the tank as weapons of war.

Make no mistake about it, we do not seek to glorify war or trivialize the horrendous slaughter or subsequent military, political, social, and economic effects that reverberate to this day. Rather, we strive to provide a small window into the past and show the sharp contrasts. For the 2 Chevauleger and other units of cavalry of all the combatants, the First World War spelled the end of an era and in particular, the 2 Chevauleger did not survive the war. Like the German Empire of the Kaiser and the Kingdom of Bavaria, the 2 Chevauleger was swept away with Germany's defeat in 1918.

With that said, this blog will cover a variety of subjects ranging from military history to equine science to weapons and uniforms. Everything is pretty much fair game here and I hope to be able to supply a steady stream of posts that are informative and even entertaining.

Horrido!
